The Thin Man is a 1934 American pre-Code comedy-mystery directed by W. S. Van Dyke and based on the novel of the same name by Dashiell Hammett. A few laughs.Probably great when it was released.Not worth my time in 2019. Certificate: Passed Former detective Nick Charles and his wealthy wife Nora investigate a murder case, mostly for the fun of it.

He's also approached by Dorothy Wynant whose inventor father Clyde Wynant is suspected of murdering her father's mistress (his former secretary )..

The Thin Man is directed by W. S. Van Dyke and co-written by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich. A married couple file an amicable divorce, but find it harder to let go of each other than they initially thought. When a socialite sues a big paper for libel, the editor responsible calls in the help of his ignored fiancée and a former employee to frame her and make the false story seem true. The restoration is really good. Powell and Loy have such a chemistry between them, it is irresistible. Comedy

The film stars William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, a leisure-class couple who enjoy copious drinking and flirtatious banter.

The script is excellent, from a fine novel by a fine writer.

And the photography on this print is clear and precise. On first viewing, I found it difficult to follow the storyline--keeping up with all the characters and who was who, etc.--but it somehow did not detract from the enjoyment, and only made it more viewable a second and third time, when you could finally grasp it all.

Really Enjoyed this Film and the Chemistry between the two leads (not forgetting Asta the dog). Plus Asta the dog of course. Nick and Nora investigate the murder of a bandleader in New York. Find out where The Thin Man is streaming, if The Thin Man is on Netflix, and get news and updates, on Decider. An explosives manufacturer suspects a young man is out to kill him. After this Myrna was a genuine star (she'd only made 80 films prior) and every man in America wanted to be married to Nora Charles.

I am not really a fan of comedies, but I can definitely appreciate a good one when it comes along.

Certificate: Passed Nick is a retired police detective who left his very successful career when he married Nora, a wealthy heiress accustomed to high society. Things get even more complicated when he learns on his wedding day that his beloved maiden aunts are habitual murderers. The review has nothing to do with the content or plot of the movie - it is a classic and is worth the purchase.

A scatterbrained socialite hires a vagrant as a family butler - but there's more to Godfrey than meets the eye. And the acting is only superb. Tabloids! Wrongly convicted James Allen serves in the intolerable conditions of a southern chain gang, which later comes back to haunt him.

Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. After a four year absence, one time detective Nick Charles returns to New York with his new wife Nora and their dog, Asta.

That part will be lost on new audiences but what can be appreciated is the fact that they could be just as they are in a film today and not be out of date.
