History Before the Books Fenoglio wrote the book Inkheart, and said that he titled the book after the black heart of its antagonist, Capricorn. Up to date Inkheart has sold over three million copies worldwide. Helps Meggie kill Capricorn and save her father as well as come up with a plan to kill the Adderhead.

When Capricorn threatens his grandkids, "fear showed in every wrinkle of his face" (34.49), and when Meggie is freaking out about whether their plan to change the Shadow will work, Fenoglio comforts her by saying, "It will be all right, Meggie! Fenoglio is obviously impressed with himself for his creation, and how Capricorn matches what he imagined. Twelve-year-old Meggie Folchart, while listening to the pouring rain in bed one night, looks out her window and sees a stranger near her house.

Mo and Meggie go to meet Fenoglio, the old dude who wrote Inkheart, in hopes of finding another copy of the book (and thus having a shot at reading Meggie's mom out).

Dustfinger helps to free Meggie, Mo, and Elinor, realizing the foolishness of his betrayal, and Meggie convinces them to take the captive Farid when they flee.

He can talk about his books forever and takes a ridiculous sense of pride when he ends up in his own book, just busting with pride as he shows Meggie around what he considers his world.
